Dress codes exist in many forms and seemingly often create as many problems as they solve. Take, for example, the case of the young woman who was allegedly fired from her job with Abercrombie & Fitch for refusing to remove her religious headscarf while working in a company store. Where do company policies and image requirements stop and individual and religious freedom start? What is fair for an employer to require and unfair for an employee to be asked to comply with?
If you ask a hundred people you'll probably get nearly as many varied answers, it's a surprisingly touchy subject. If you are thinking of implementing a Dress Code Policy for your company you might check out LawRoom's forms and memos on the subject, it's a great place to start.
We would love to know your thoughts on Company Dress Policies.
